La percepción de desigualdad económica y su influencia sobre la justificación de las diferencias de ingreso legítimas

Se analiza el efecto de información sobre desigualdad económica sobre la justificación de desigualdad salarial. Usando un experimento a través de encuestas en una muestra del área metropolitana de Santiago de Chile (n=732), se busca replicar los resultados de Kris-Stella Trump (2018) sobre la justificación de brechas salariales. Los resultados muestran que la información sobre salarios reales no impacta la medida de justificación de desigualdad empleada por Trump. Se evidenció que la información sobre desigualdad salarial incrementa la justificación de brechas salariales según ocupaciones de alto y bajo estatus, lo cual potencia la exposición conjunta hacia la justificación del sistema. Se discuten las limitaciones metodológicas del estudio e implicancias en el mismo de las preferencias distributivas.
